synopsis

Frog Dreaming loves to dream and tell stories. He spends his days waiting for images to flit into him and out of him. He spends his nights dreaming. He tells his dreams and stories to the Rock Family and to his friend, Lizard.

On his Night Journeys, Frog meets Storyteller, Whale, Hawk, Gogolia, and Death.

In one dream, Gogolia, the Keeper of all stories, sends Frog on a hero’s journey: His task is to find his Heart Song and to give Death a Heart.

"Opening Frog Dreaming is like opening a door and walking into a starlit night to behold the sparkling wonder of imagination that always surrounds us. The lively story and the exquisite illustrations draw me back again and again as I sit with the universal questions woven through its pages."

— Tom Morin, Author, Threads of Influence

"A magical mystery tour for the modern age...Full of wisdom and heart."

— Judge Reinhold

"This book speaks to the essential truths in all of us. It is wise and beautiful, funny and heartfelt, all at the same time. It is enduring."

— Alan Webber, Co-founder, Fast Company Magazine

The actual authors of Frog Dreaming are Judy Tuwaletstiwa and Caleb Sohigian, grandmother and grandson.

Based on a series of paintings 82-year-old artist, Judy Tuwaletstiwa, completed over 30 years ago, the book, Frog Dreaming, is decades in the making. Though a gifted writer with three published books, Judy felt compelled to invite her grandson, Caleb  Sohigian, to be her collaborative partner.

She introduced the story to him when he was twelve. Over the years, drafts and revisions of Frog Dreaming grew and evolved just as Caleb did. By the time he was in his twenties, his insight became essential for Judy. Beyond adding a multigenerational perspective with Caleb’s voice, the story is now birthed by two people whose collective backgrounds include educator, artist, writer, actor, magician, street performer and board game master—skillsets that feel essential in crafting a modern fairytale.
